Knowsley Green Party

Knowsley Green Party was founded in 2015 with the intention of helping to protect local people and the environment as well as to build and promote a voice for democratic accountability within the entirely Labour controlled Knowsley Council.

We have contested the local elections since 2015 and stand candidates in borough, town and parish council elections. Since then Knowsley Green Party has seen a remarkable increase in voter confidence due to the efforts of local members, volunteers and supporters. We engage with local residents and encourage them to become actively involved in the political process.

Our first success was in February 2017 when Joanne Burke was elected to Prescot town council. Kai Taylor followed a few weeks later becoming the youngest Green Party councillor in the UK. Joanne and Kai are now Borough councillors representing Prescot South and are joined by Ronald Gaffney representing Whiston & Cronton.

2019 was a particularly successful year for the Green Party in Knowsley as we took political control of two Town Councils (all together 19 Town Councillors): Prescot Town Council and Whiston Town Council. Knowsley Green Party are firmly established as the main opposition to Labour having gained more votes than all other opposition parties combined.

We meet regularly and welcome all Green Party members to attend the meetings and contribute to the activities of our local party.
